Fox/Atkins worked closely with Steve Long and Don Ort over the past several years to bring to life a phenotyping greenhouse as part of the “Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency” (RIPE) international research project for sustainable increases in crop yields in the University of Illinois Research Park.

The newly constructed greenhouse is a modern plant phenotyping facility focused on improving photosynthesis and engineering plants to ultimately increase the yields of staple food crops and improve global food security by 2050. The RIPE project and its sponsors are committed to ensuring global access to food and making the project’s technologies available to the farmers who need them most.
